The friends I have...

Tá todo mundo me dizendo: Vejo você na quinta! Vejo você na quinta!
- Elisa, é a minha festa de despedida!!!
- Ah, é! Eu tinha me esquecido...

I am leaving Bahrain soon and my heart is broken. i love it here, I love the friends I made, I love the life style.
Today a friend of mine called to ask me a question:
- Inaie, what's happening on Thursday? Is there a company party you are aware of?
- What do you mean?
- I don't know! Everyone is saying: I will see you on Thursday, I will see you on Thursday...
- Elisa, Thursday is my farewell party!
- Oh! I had forgotten...

With friends like that who would need enemies?

Escondendo / hiding

O casal olhou, gostou e decidiu levar.
Carregaram, no maior sacrifício, o gaveteiro.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Fabio does not like my habit of selling things. He thinks selling little things, is not worth the money and it is too much work and effort!
I pretend I do not listen and continue selling.
A set of drawers here, a nightstand there ... and will slowly getting some some cash, since we'll have to buy it  all again in Arizona.
It is my habit and it is not fair to ask Fabio to help carry the furniture I am selling against his will.

Today  a couple came over to buy  a dresser. I went into the TV room and said to Fabio:  hidde for a while - otherwise you'll have to help carry the dresser.
The couple liked the piece and decided to take it.
The wife was quick to "offer help":
- I can take a drawer!
The guy looked at me, I put on my best poker face, then thought better of it and said:
- Look, I can help you guys. You two take the dresser, I will ask the girls to help me take the drawers.
Trapped, the husband asked his wife to help take the dresser from the second floor to his car.
She, unhappily, tried one more thing:
- Can you ask your maid to help?
- No, sorry. She is very tiny. I would not do that to her ...
Meanwhile, Fabio remained hidden in the TV room, the door closed.

After complaining a lot, she managed to help the poor man carry the dresser down. Lia, her friend and I took the drawers.
When we got downstairs, Fabio got out of the TV room, stopped and looked at us for a while.
They looked at me, stunned and I went straight back to my poker face

Now tell me - what do you think of Fabio's hiding skills?

Sou uma mulher de palavra! You can trust me!

Eu estou vendendo o meu carro e outras coisas mais. Meu telefone toca dia e noite, insistentemente.
Subo prá mostrar a esteira, chega outra pessoa.
E ele queria o carro?
Queriiiia!

Ai, ai, ai!

+++++++++++++++++++

I'm selling my car and some other things. My phone rings day and night, insistently. It would drive anyone crazy!
Then today I got a call from a guy saying he was going to come see my car later. And he also asked me not  to sell to anyone because he wanted the car for sure.
He Insisted.
I agreed. His name is Sayed.
To make sure we would not make a mistake, I told Fabio, Sayed had preference in the car, but four other people were coming to check it out.
When I come home,  a very nice guy is inspecting the car. He says he wants to see our treadmill too
While I go up to show him, someone else arrives. The other guy looks at the car, I don't give him much attention, and he leaves.
Sayed goes to the ATM with his wife, picks up the deposit, pays to secure the deal.
After it is all done, I say to my husband:
- Didn't I say I was going to sell the car to Sayed? My sixth sense is great. That's why I gave him priority.
- That was not the Sayed. Sayed was the second guy ...
And he wanted the car?
Yep, he did.

Ai, ai, ai!

Só em Bahrain / It only happens in Bahrain

E eu estava ouvindo o trailler do filme.
Fora do prédio.

++++++++++++++++++++

Lia and I decided to go to the movies. It was already 2:30 and the movie started at 2:30. We left the house already late.
Running like crazy, we parked in front of the theater (ours was the only car there) we ran to buy the tickets, but there was no one at the box office.
I could hear the  trailer, but no one showed up, so I started to make a fuss.
A guy picks up the phone and call someone, then he looks at me and says:
- He's coming.
- Where is he?
- He is coming
I thought the guy was in the bathroom
- That's not what I asked. where is he?
With no reply and no one to sell me the bloody tickets,  I lose my patience and decide I will enter without a ticket, Lia and I will not miss the movie because of other people's  incompetence.
When i am preparing myself to push the guys who get the ticket, the ticket saller arrives. He was OUT of the theatre. Outside the building. On the street.
While I buy the tickets and complian , Lia decides to buy popcorn.

- Popcorn? Ah ... no no.No have now, madam. I'll have to make it ....

We had no ticket man at the ticket box and no popcorn at the popcorn shop.
These arabs really don't need any money.

And we were the only clients in the theatre, but the guy insisted in giving us numbered seats. just in case...

Coisas de Dona Cirlei! That's my mom...

- Cirlei??!!
- Eu estou aqui!
- Onde?
- Aqui no quarto - no escuro!
?????
Suspense resolvido.
- Lia, eu ESTOU no lap top!!!! E tenho um tablet também...

Fiquei uns 20 minutos rindo sozinha.

++++++++++++++++++++

I was talking to my mom on skype, with the cameras on, but I saw nothing.
Then she asks:
- Can you see me?
- No.
After fluffing around for a while, I concluded it was probably a problem with the connection and I let go. The sound was good, we could just talk.
A while later, my dad comes home and calls:
- Cirlei?!
- I'm here!
- Where?
- Here in the bedroom - in the dark!
???
Mystery solved. I could not see her because she was in the dark!
- Mom, why are you in the dark?
- Because the light bulb burnt out (and I could see her mentally wondering how I could be so stupid and ask such imbecile questions)
- And why don't you get it changed?
- Because your father doesn't  want to call the insurance, so I'll wait for him to go to work tomorrow and have someone from the insurance company come here and fix it.
I must have left Brazil  too long ago, but here no one calls the insurance to replace light bulbs.
I don't think about it again and continue the conversation
Shortly after, my daughter enters the room, asks why the grandmother has her camera off, then asks why her grandmother is in the dark and as she finds the intriguing answers, she questions once again:
- Is it only your room in the dark, or will you wait for the insurance company to come and change the bulbs throughout the house?
- Only in my room
- Grandma, why don't you get the lap top and go to the living room??
- Lia, I'm using the lap top!! And I have a tablet too ...

I was laughing about 20 minutes alone. Thankfully, my mother was good sport and did not get upset with me.

Olha a boca!! Language...

No Brasil...
- Sobrinha, você quer ir ao banheiro?
- Quero cagar!

**********************

I have this amazing friend who insists she swears, but I never heard her say a bad word, so to prove she does, she told me the following story:

Her brother asking her kids:
- darling, do you need to use the toiled?
- yes! I need to shit
- we don't say shit, love.
- my mum does!!
