Tabefe no cozinheiro / My first cook

Ganho meu A e o ionspetor vai embora.
O cozinheiro, um Mexicano grandão me fala -

The health inspector came for the first visit afetr we opened the business and everything was going super well.
We received lots of compliments...until he saw an open cup of coffee on the bench. Serious violation.
My heart skip a beat and as a reflex I clinched my fist and hit the cook.
The cook - a big Mexican guy, just stared at me. I don;t think he believed what just happened.
I look at the inspector who quickly says -
I won't mark you down. Just don;t do it again.
I am not sure if he thought I would hit the cook harder after he left, or if he would be the next victim.
The inspector left, we got our A and the cook -
- You know that's not my coffee. It belongs to the guy from Corporate who is here helping us open...
- It may not be your coffee. But the kitchen is your responsibility, so you deserved the punch...

( what was I supposed to say?)

Saudade imensa! I miss you!

Minha avó Mexicana vai sair do túmulo e me estapear!

Cozinheiro - PROCURA-SE

I will not start this post with apologies or reasons why I have been AWOL for so long.
The only thing that matters is how much I miss you and how happy I am to be back.
My kitchen is taking all my time, so most the stories I have to share are kitchen related.
A year ago I could not fry an egg and would happily remodel my kitchen and turn it into another living area - it would be far more usable in my house.
Twelve months later and I am catering for 200 people - ALONE.
Why?
Because my gorgeous, favorite chef moved out of town and since then I had 9 cooks in 2 months. Two resigned. The others I had to let go for different reasons.

A few interactions that come to my mind -
cook - It's impossible to work wit you! Youw ant it all your way...
Maybe it's because it is MY kitchen??

Another cook - I won't make the Fajitas the way you want me to. My dead grandma will get up from her grave and slap me.
Think long and carefully. Slaps from feisty Brazilian women tend to hurt more.

A third cook - Read your menu. It says clients need to order 24 hours priot to the event - and you keep accepting same day orders...
I did not even bother replying...

Same guy - I can not believe it! You let the cliend decide how they want the food they will eat!!
Thinking to myself - here I go... newspaper add, interviews, all over again...

Conversa informativa / Revealing Chat

I was talking with an employee another day and he said -
- My girlfriend has been to Italy.
- mmmm

- mmmmm
- It is the Coliseum!!

I was lost for words. Mental note - get employees into history classes.

Gluten Free

- tenho algumas perguntas, disse a noiva
- E a carne, tinha gluten?

Ai, ai, ai. Não minha senhora, a nossa carne não contém gluten.

Gifts / presentes

Funeral do meu tio. Familia toda reunida.

My uncle's funeral. All family present.
Suddenly my phone starts beeping.
- Aunt, thank you for the necklace.
- Cousin, I really like the gidt.
- Ná, I really like the lil dress you sent to my kid ( this message came from the daughter of the deceased)
My mum, who is a very practical person, decided to take the "opportunity" of having the family together and decided to deliver all the lil gifts I sent with her when she came to visit

Bumbum limpissimo / Super clean bum

++++++

I was thinking about some visitors we received in the past and could not stop laughing when I remembered a friend of mine who spent a few weeks with us.
We buy cleaning wipes for all our counter tops and surfaces. bathroom, kitchen, laundry. They are super efficient and we love it.
One day Anita came to me all concerned:
-Mum, I think your friend is cleaning her bum with the clorox wipes
- What? wh?
- Because I keep putting it away and when I go back to the bathroom it is open, right next to the toilet seat.

Oh well... At least we know my friend has a very clean, bleached bum now!

Eu olho pro meu carro , e vejo aquela zona.
No fim do carnaval, conseguimos recuperar todas as notas.
Pai de sorte esse meu!!!

My dad likes to have cash on his pocket.
Last week, when we were travelling in to Flagstaff, he took his jacket out of the car at the petrol station and when i looked, all I saw was a swirl of money with him inside.
I was cleaning my car, and had dirty Starbucks cups, empty water bottles and chocolate wraps in my hands.
Before I could get out of trance, there were a few strangers helping him recover his notes. I finally got into action and without dropping the rubbish ( why?? why??), stepped on a few notes I could get on the floor.
My dad is a lucky man. Between the two of us and the kind strangers, he managed to recover all his cash!
